  16.           is a color image editing tool which features most standard
  17.           paint program options. It allows for the editing of multiple
  18.           images simultaneously and supports various formats,
  19.           including PPM, XBM, TIFF, etc.
  20.  
  21.           The functionality of XPaint is divided into a toolbox area
  22.           for selecting the current paint operation and paint windows
  23.           for modifying/creating images.  Each paint window has access
  24.           to its own color palette and set of patterns, although the
  25.           paint operation in use is globally selected for all windows.

  27.           XPaint runs on a variety of displays.  It should be noted
  28.           that saving images will adapt them to the current display
  29.           type (i.e. a color image loaded on a greyscale screen will
  30.           be saved as a grey image).

  32.           There is also an extensive on-line help system available.

  35.           In addition to being able to specify image files to open,
  36.           the following options are available on the command line:

  38.                -size     default width and height for new images
  39.  
  40.                -12       use a 12 bit PseudoColor visual
  41.  
  42.                -24       use a 24 bit TrueColor visual

  45.           The toolbox window is displayed when XPaint is started.  The
  46.           toolbox is used to select an operation which can then be
  47.           applied to any image area presented (painting window, fat
  48.           bits, pattern editor, etc.).  The window has a selection of
  49.           painting operations (as icons) and several pull down menus.

  52.           The painting window holds a canvas area for painting the
  53.           displayed image, menus for performing operations on this
  54.           image, and primary and secondary color/pattern palettes
